Kings Beach Trail towards Newland Head
This is a walk I've been wanting to do for a long time. I'll be honest and tell you that I've attempted to walk it on 3 separate occasions now.
The first time I chose to get the husband and kids and head off on a cold winters day, the sun was shining and we made it to the headland which houses the Kings Beach Retreats when suddenly out of nowhere appeared a huge ominous looking cloud, bringing with it pouring rain and crazy winds that no mother wants to be stuck lugging 3 kids through.
The second time we again chose winter, this time bringing along a friend and daughter. Making it just past the retreats we discovered the recent rains were not going to be great for climbing the next hill with 4 kids and a few dodgy knees in tow.
Finally I decided that to get to where I was wanting to go it might be best not to take the kids. So a friend and I packed a backpack of snacks and drinks and headed off on a sunny winters day ..... and man was it worth the wait! The scenery is breathtaking, the foliage you're walking amongst is on par with the stuff we see in magazines and on tv, those cliffs make you realise just how small you really are and if you're lucky you'll see some wild life along the way too!
Note: we walked in August and came across large Kangaroos and a pretty scary looking large black snake so be sure to keep your eyes peeled while walking this trail.
